Adopted a kitty a couple of weeks ago. The lady that let us meet all of them, snuggle them and get some alone time with each cat which was lovely. Explained in detail about each cat, their past and any medical conditions.
I have NOTHING nice to say about this so called animal relief centre. Believe me when I say they will put your dog down within days of you surrendering him/her if they do not pass one assessment. My family ultimately had to surrender our dog and although we advised BARC to please tell us if he was going to be put down - I even emailed to tell them this.. within DAYS of dropping him off......with NO response. and that if it come to it, I would find a place.. !... which I ultimately did, but within days he was DEAD... Now this was less than a week of him being surrendered.. OK he was surrendered, but to his death!! within days.. This is not why we bought him here!!! Had they told us he was not suitable, 1000000% I would have found him another home... Absolutely heart broken that they did not call to tell us when we specifically asked!! The email i got back was telling me they don't call.. Well this was INCORRECT.. We specifically asked this when dropping him off... As a big beautiful dog.. he loved people, but not other dogs, so ultimately he did not pass one assessment, and literally put him to death that day. Please.. anyone that wants to surrender their dog, know that you are more than likely taking him/her to die, not be re-homed. There is no care here and I don't care what anyone in that place says... We DID asked to be informed because this poor dog did not deserve to die.. One phone call and I would have picked him back up.. Disgusting and cruel place. Still distraught over this. Here is a photo of our gorgeous boy destroyed before his time in this KILL house... with no chance..
Had to take my cat here on a Sunday afternoon and they were super helpful and super lovely
Staff are friendly and open to discuss the animals needing homes and needs of the prospective adopters. We were given all the time we needed to decide what we wanted to do. We were fortunate that the fur baby we wanted worked out for us. We have a new family member!!
Love B.A.R.C! We adopted our adorable baby dog one year ago. He is the best decision we ever made. B.A.R.C gave a us good history on Boris and provided a free vet check up within the first 7 days when we noticed an issue with his eye. Good place to look at adopting a new fur baby
Had a meet and greet yesterday. The staff were excellent at explaining our dogs back story. They let us walk and play with him. See how he interacted with our kids. All went well so we got to take him home!
Such a lovely experience.
This is such a nice home for the cats and dogs who need looking after until they find their forever home. I was pleasantly surprised with how beautiful and clean the facility was compared to other ones I have seen in other Countries. You can take part in the fostering programme or volunteer if you are 16 and older.
Very kind and caring staff, looked after my last dog until I could pick her up and staff very up to date with website information on lost animals. Very thankful for them.
Five stars for the work in rehoming animals.
-2 stars for my experience. I rang today at 1.30 pm to make an appointment to a adopt an adult cat. My appointment was to be 3.00 pm. I went to a pet shop to purchase cat toys, bedding, bowls already having food at home from my other cat. I only just back in the car at about 2.15 when my phone rang telling me the cat was no longer available had just been adopted. Don’t get me wrong. I’m happy that the cat has a new home whether it be me or someone else. The system needs reforming. I know at the Campaspe shelter in Echuca their system is much fairer. If you ring to adopt a certain animal and someone previously has rang to make an appointment they tell you this and will ring you if the adoption doesn’t go through. So you don’t expect the animal will be yours. BARC, please consider this approach. Would have saved me from being upset thinking I should have a new cat that would be a beautiful addition to our family lifestyle in an hours time.
We are so lucky to have a facility like BARC in Bendigo. The staff clearly have the best interests of the animals at heart. We adopted our gorgeous cat from BARC and we are so grateful for the start to life the team at BARC gave him.
